This week Elder Pittman was on “exchanges,” meaning he had temporarily traded companions with another set of missionaries. As Elder Pittman and Elder Anderson were trudging out to the middle of nowhere, it begain to rain.

“I always have my umbrella so it was fine,” wrote Josh.

After 25 minutes of walking, they reached the home of the family they were to teach. The home was very humble, made of sheet metal, and was too tiny to fit both Elder Anderson and Elder Pittman.

In Josh’s words,

“So I am sitting on a plastic lawn chair half under their roof with my umbrella up in the pouring rain listening to the other Elder asking questions, and the Spirit was really strong. I’m sitting there with aching feet, partially drenched, and my pants are filthy with mud … and I realized it all does not matter whatsoever. In fact, I just could not help from smiling because these people were comitted to being baptized! They were going to pay their tithing, their “widow’s mite,” and be obedient and be faithful. I love the mission field!”
