Bass samples
This clip was originally recorded as a quiz for some of Tom’s bass playing friends around the world. It features Nicky’s voice, and Tom (the 7th’s) bass playing.
In one ear you will hear a familiar slap riff, and in the other ear is a riff played “fingerstyle” so that you can check out both the slap and the normal tone of the basses.
The basses are, in order left to right and in the order on the recording:
(1) Fbass BN6 with an ash body, Macassar ebony finger board.
(2) Fbass BN5 with an ash body, maple finger board
(3) Fbass VF5 with an alder body and rosewood finger board. The Jazz style pickups are in the 60s positions.
(4) Alleva Coppolo Custom Jazz Bass with an alder body, rosewood finger board, and the pickups in the 70s positions.
(5) Fodera Yin Yang (Victor Wooten signature bass) with an alder body and maple finger board. By the way, that isn’t paint on the body. The white wood is holly, and the black wood is ebony.
